Peace Like a River

Peace Like a RiverI don’t usually read contemporary fiction, and when I do read it I don’t usually like it, but this book is very good. I picked this up after reading about it online, and I was extremely impressed with the skill of Leif Engle. He is a very talented writer, and I hope he will write another novel soon. Peace Like a River is told by a young boy about his family and the events that occur when his brother is arrested for murder and then escapes from jail. The story is mainly about the boy’s father, who has a strong and enduring faith and a very special relationship with God. If you’re looking for a good book to take on vacation, this would be a great choice.
