Lamplight Media
Author: Casey | Posted in: Cool Sites, Tech, Work Life
Since I was in High School, I’ve been interested in developing websites. Over the last few years I’ve done web development work on the side as a hobby for a few different churches and companies, which I’ve extremely enjoyed.A couple of months ago, a friend of mine, Zach Cheatham, and I decided to start a web design business together. I’ve always had a passion for web development, and Zach has an amazing talent for graphic design. I feel that our unique gifts will enable us to provide a broad range of services to our clients.
Our main goal is to enable churches and small businesses to have engaging websites that are easy to maintain and update. In working with churches, my experience has shown me that most churches don’t have a staff member who knows how to maintain and update a complex website, which is why I feel a company like Lamplight Media is needed to help fill this void.
Most people visit a church’s website long before ever stepping foot in their building. Although there are many high quality church websites today, the majority of church websites aren’t very inviting. Which is why I believe that churches need to view their website as an outreach tool, instead of just an informational tool. I hope that our work is able to help draw people to churches and consequently to Christ.
Our company, Lamplight Media, just launched our newly designed website today. I’m very excited about this new venture and pray that God will give us success as we work hard to develop a great product for our clients.
Please feel free to share our information with any churches or business that are looking to build or update a website. Thanks!

Free iPhones?
Author: Casey | Posted in: Free Stuff, Tech
For those of you who haven’t heard, the iPhone is now out. I’m sure most of us probably want one, but can’t afford the steep $499-599 price tag. I’ve gotten a lot of free things in the past (including an iPod) and have actually helped some of you get free items. Now, there is a legitimate site that is giving away free iPhones for completing an offer and referring some friends. If you want to try and get a free iPhone for yourself, click the link below and give it a shot, or not. It’s up to you… http://www.iphones4free.com/default.aspx?r=838974

The Music Man
Author: Casey | Posted in: Cool Sites, Tech
For those that know me well, it’s pretty obvious that I love music. From my 20 GB iPod, to my large collection of CDs and MP3s, I’m always ready to rock out to great music.
I also love to share different obscure bands and artists with some of my music-loving friends. Because of this, I was really excited when I ran across this website that takes all of the music you’ve been listening to in iTunes and makes a compilation out of it. It’s called the iTunes Signature Maker.
I recently compiled a sixty-second signature of some of my most-listened-to songs. I’d love to know if you can recognize any of the artists or songs. Let me know if you create your own signature…

Zeit-what?
Author: Casey | Posted in: Cool Sites, Tech
I’m not exactly sure what the word “Zeitgeist” means, but I thought this was pretty cool. Google has posted all of their year-end search trends with their corresponding dates to show exactly what people were searching for and when. At first glance, this doesn’t seem to be that big of a deal, but when you take a look at what events were occurring when people were searching on certain topics, it becomes pretty interesting.
I don’t have much more to say about it, but you can check it out for yourself…if you want.

TV on an iPod?!?
Author: Casey | Posted in: Free Stuff, Tech
Apple just released their new video-enabled iPods today. Along with this big news, they also announced that you will now be able to buy TV episodes (maybe movies too?) from the iTunes Store using iTunes v6.
Wow! This could really change the way that entertainment content is distributed. Just imagine if you could buy an episode of your favorite TV show (without commercials) whenever you wanted to for $1.99. Is it worth it? I’m not so sure that I’d pay $1.99 per episode for any of my favorites. The only way that I could justify paying that would be if I cancelled my Dish subscription. It’s a very interesting concept, though…
What does everyone else think?

Apple releases the iPod Nano
Author: Casey | Posted in: Tech
Apple finally got it right this time! The Nano is the big brother to the recently released shuffle, but it has a wonderful color display that the Shuffle lacks. If hadn’t already gotten a free 20 gb iPod and a 6 gb iPod mini, I would probably buy this one.
It’s only $199 and looks pretty sleek. This is from the Apple website:
“Take everything you love about the iPod and shrink it. Now shrink it again. With 2GB (500 songs) and 4GB (1,000 songs) models starting at $199, the pencil-thin iPod nano packs the entire iPod experience into an impossibly small design. So small, it will take your music places you never dreamed of.”
Do you think anyone will get one?

Instant Messaging: The Google Way
Author: Casey | Posted in: Tech
Well, Google has done it again. They have introduced a new Instant Messaging program called Google Talk. I’ve installed it and messed around with it a bit and it seems to be like other instant messaging programs, but the interface is a little cleaner. Just like most other Google ventures, this one seems to have a very nice, clean interface that’s not cluttered up with any junk.I really feel that Google is on its way to becoming the next Microsoft of the tech-world. They are really innovating on the web, while most other companies just seem to copy everything they do. Currently, Google’s stock price is at $281.99 per share and most people would claim that it’s over-valued. I don’t claim to be an expert at evaluating investments, but I really feel like Google has no where to go but up. If they keep innovating and pushing technology to the limits, then I think we’ll see them around for a long time to come…

Google Earth = Lots of Fun
Author: Casey | Posted in: Cool Sites, Tech
I know many of you have probably already seen this, but I just couldn’t help blogging about this great tool from Google. This program will let you fly virtually anywhere and view satellite photos of any location on the globe. It is free, but it’s recommended that you have a high speed connection and a relatively high-speed computer.
One of the main reasons that I’ve been playing around with this program again is because of a great site that I’ve found: Google Earth Hacks. Other people have posted cool locations/sitings in the downloads section that you can click on and immediately view for yourself in Google Earth. You have to download a .kmz file that can then be opened in Google Earth. Very cool!
» Check it out for yourself
» View the House I Grew Up In (View it in Google Earth)
» View the Church I went to as a kid (View it in Google Earth)

I’m trying to get a free video iPod now from the same company that I got my other free stuff from. You can get a free one too.
