On Friday night, my wife and I had the rare opportunity to venture out and see a movie. So, we looked at what movies were showing at our local theater, only to be disappointed by the terrible movies that were showing. Then, I saw a movie that I had not heard about nor seen any previews for. I commenced to “google” the movie’s title: “One Night with the King” and stumbled upon the official site. After watching the trailer, my wife and I decided that this would definitely be a movie worth watching.
“One Night with the King” is about the biblical story of Queen Esther and the courage she showed in order to save the Jewish people from annihilation at the hands of the King. The movie itself was very true to scripture and didn’t have any major inaccuracies that I noticed.
I was very impressed with the quality of acting in the movie, and very surprised to see some big name actors starring in the movie (ie: John Rhys-Davies). All of the scenery really tricks the viewer into believing that they are witnessing this story unfold in ancient Persia.
If you haven’t yet seen this movie, I would HIGHLY recommend going out to support it. As Christians, if we expect to see more wholesome, quality movies in the future, then we should support movies such as this one.

We plan to see it Casey. Also go see facing the giants. A Church here in Georgia made this film. It is very encouraging and uplifting.

It was amazing. My favorite part about the movie was the way they delved so deeply into history. The movie was filled with strange little historical facts that only people who had studied that time period would know about. It was as if they were saying, “Come on, put our teachings to the test. History only proves our point further.” It was definatly a great movie.
Honestly, I’ve never been into religious films, but this one has me interested simply because Esther is the only writing in all of Scripture that makes no mention of God. That’s what I love about the story. IT’s so relevant.
