Down, but not out

Author: Casey | Posted in: Random Thoughts

Well, I’ve been sick for the past five days. I went into the Emergency Room on Sunday night with severe abdominal pain. Everyone (including myself) thought it was appendicitis. After much poking and prodding by the ER doctors and nurses, they ran a CT Scan to see what it was. After about a half an hour the doctor came back and told us it was mesenteric adenitis. I had never heard of that, but apparently it’s a viral infection of the abdominal lymph node.

So, after about a five hour ordeal in the ER, we came back home with a diagnosis and some pain meds. I then proceeded to sleep for the next three days and not eat much at all. Yesterday morning, I woke up feeling much better with only a little bit of pain. Today, I’m back at work and almost 100%. For those of you that were worried about me, thanks for the concerns and prayers!

Man Casey! That is crazy! I am sorry to hear that you were sick, but it is nice to know that you are feeling better now. I have never been to the emergency room and hope I will never have to go, ha! Say hello to Mary Beth and Boo for me… oh yeah Caleb too ;)

Yeah, I had never been to the ER before Sunday night. It was pretty crazy, but I’m glad it’s behind me now. I had never had a Cat Scan before, but they inject this weird metallic-type stuff into your IV and then put you thorough this tube of spinning lasers. It’s about as crazy as it sounds… :P

    Hey, Casey!
I’m so glad you are better. That must have been really scary! We would have been glad to help out if we had known. I’m glad Mary Beth’s Dad is a doctor. I’m sure he made sure all was fine. Please take care of yourself and don’t over do it too fast. We love you!

    Hug MB!

Yeah my 8 years old went through the ER twice until they figured out it was mesenteric adenitis and I have never ever heard of it before. So now he has to be on mineral oil and Metamucil because it complicated everything in his bowels that it got to the point that he was so obstructed that he couldn’t go to the bathroom. They say he will feel much much better in a couple days. I hope so cause he is feeling terrible. I am glad that you are 100% norm. I know what it must be like.
