Josiah’s Gotcha Slideshow

I can’t believe we get to do this again. Even though this is our second adoption, it’s still frightening, as I assume it would be the third, fourth, or fifth time. It’s always scary to step out in faith into the unknown. But what we DO know is that God is, has been, and will [...]

Our Family Mission

Posted by Casey on Thursday, July 20th, 2006

Mary Beth and I sat down last night to design our Family Mission Statement together. It took us a while to come up with an idea, but Mary Beth was the one who decided to use verbs to define how we wanted our family to be. We both sat at the computer for a little [...]

The Astros win the Pennant!

I was never much of a baseball fan growing up. I spent most of my energy playing and watching basketball as a kid. Of course, just like most other kids, I would occasionally go watch the local major league team play. For kids like me growing up in Houston, TX the team to watch were the Houston Astros.

I have many good memories of going to the Astrodome with my dad, friends, or my church youth group. It was always a good time! I remember one such occasion when I was a senior in high school. My dad just showed up at school one day and told me we were going to see the Astros play in a playoff game that afternoon. Not only was it great to spend time with my dad, but I also got to see the ‘stros compete in the playoffs. To this day, that remains my fondest baseball memory. The Astros didn’t end up winning that series and they haven’t had much playoff success since then, but all of that changed last night with their 5-1 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals.

This is a big event in the city of Houston. The Astros have never made it to the world series in their 50 year existence as a team. I’m excited for Houston and for the Astros. Hopefully they can win it all!!

Well, my prediction was incorrect…this year. Congrats to the Astros, and good luck against the White Sox and a tough pitching staff. Man, 2 great years of Cards VS. Stros in the NLCS. Ya think they can make it 3? Have fun watching the World Series. I don’t know that I’ll be rooting for the ‘Stros or against Chicago (I just don’t want a Chicago team to have a world Series.)
